What you’re reading Thursday?

HI all this morning I sent out a little hint on what I would be posting – here is a snippet for Chapter 2 of Billionaire’s Rescue. Note that I’m still working on this so it could change. Last week I posted Chapter one. So I thought it would be cool to add a little more. Hope you like it.

The moment Carla Roy entered the hall, she wanted to hide and go back home. She didn’t want to be in a place that she didn’t feel welcome. Carla Roy pasted a smile on her face as her partner Bruce Sumner walked her from guest to guest. She was always a foot behind him, and it didn’t feel right; these were not her people her friends as if she had any.  Carla had had enough, living in a house with a man she no longer loved, and he clearly didn’t like her. For months now, she knew he’s been cheating on her. The smell of perfume, a shade of lipstick on his collar that didn’t belong to her. So why would he force her to wear a dress so sexy that showed off her curves and not stand by her. Why pretend to be the happy girlfriend? When he’s hands were all over other woman. She stood by his side and smiled and nodded and made small talk, but that was it. She didn’t know these people, and she didn’t care about them either. It’s not like if Bruce Sumner was her night and shining armor, he wasn’t. Bruce was her first love, her first boyfriend. Carla lost her virginity to him, and she thought that they would be together forever or had she thought.

After her mother had kicked her out at the age of 18, she had no other place to go. Bruce had started with a financial firm, and he said he was going places and he was.  Yes, in the beginning, they were in-love sometimes sex was pleasant but not spectacular. But as years passed and they drew apart, she cannot remember the last time they had sex.

Carla knew Bruce would never beat her, want she did was his cheating; he didn’t hide it.  Why not come out and say; I’m done with this I want out? Bruce gave her that security so always needed, a home, in truth that is what she always wanted. But what is a home if there is no love, no trust, no… happiness.

Now here she was, in the godforsaken fundraiser left alone at a bar, with this man, that had too much to drink. This man sitting beside her,  trying to get her attention. To touch her hoping to have a conversation with her. Where was her night and shining armor, when she had to defend herself. “Please sir, please leave me alone, I  want to enjoy my glass wine, and be alone.” She smiled at him and hope to the gods that he got the picture.

“What is a pretty girl like you sitting alone at a bar..”

“Please, please don’t touch me.” as she whispered and tried to push him away, but the man kept leaning in slurring his words.  He was in his late fifties or early sixty, but there was something not right with him. She knew this man had a wife, and he kept telling her he could show her a good time, but Carla didn’t want anything to do with him. As if she would even cross that bridge with a man like him, she had a hard time with one.  She was always invisible no one ever gave her a second look, she was still the one outside looking in.

Carla tried to block him out when she move he moved closer. She looked up to see if she could make contact with Bruce, to give him a sign so he can come and save her. But all she saw was her heart break a little every day.  His arms wrapped around a brunette, with big breasts and a mouth that could maybe do… “ah, hell!… Please, Sir!” She only wished he would leave her alone. That is when she heard a voice, so deep and with authority, that gave her chills all the way down to her toes.

“Mariotto, you heard the lady?”

Carla turned to the voice and couldn’t help but be…pulled towards his deep voice. She didn’t know him, but there was something about him that was intriguing. A mystery, she didn’t care, she felt relieved that someone came to her rescue.  All she knew that he was her hero right now. She couldn’t see his face, but he did fill out his tuxedo well. His voice had authority. He was tall, dark hair and just- just a handsome man from the back or what she could see of him watching him from the side.  Why couldn’t Bruce have done what this man was doing now. Protecting her, getting these godforsaken leeches away from her? Well maybe because Bruce never had this effect on her. This stranger, made her want to leap off this chair and strip him naked, and she knew that he knew how to please a woman.  Where those thoughts had come from, Carla didn’t know, this was not her. Carla Roy didn’t fantasies about men like him because she knew they were out of her league. Men like him wanted barbie dolls, women that knew how to please a man. Carla was never sex vixen; she just knew the basic, which wasn’t much because Bruce was never a giver, only a taker. She would cry in her sleep or in the showing feeling that she wasn’t good enough.

Lost in thought in her own head. When Carla realized that he was leaning over a man, that same man that was touching her, was now sitting on the floor. Words spoken as security roams around them.  She extended her hand and touched her savor forearm. Carla could feel the muscle beneath the clothing, the heat that burned her hand only by a touch. The tension between both and men, was so think even a knife couldn’t could cut through it. But the moment that he turned and looked at her, she knew it was a mistake or was it.

Those bearing blue eyes could see through her, like he could read my mind, my soul. Those eyes that any woman could get lost in, like an ocean blue azure that you only see in the movies.  God, she knew this man from the side was gorgeous, but she never knew that men like him existed. Carla never look at men like that before. She wanted to reach up and touch him, touch this beautiful man face. Carla knew what she was about to do was wrong. Something inside her she couldn’t explain this reaction. Carla took a deep breath and knew it was a mistake, but she had too. His cologne, his musky scent surrounded her,  she reaches up and touches his stubble face. Carla could help but get lost in his gaze. For a split second of minutes or hours she couldn’t resist his pull this attraction this guy had on her. He leaned into her touch, it was brisque, but then she watched him take her hand and kiss her palm.

God, it felt so intimate, her body responded so quickly to him. Carla followed his every touch, it was gentle but yet discrete. How can one man, a stranger she had never meet before affecting her this way? His eyes, never left hers, and unspoken want a need. Carla knew or felt what his touch was doing to her, she didn’t know him, but yet she would do anything for him. Her savor, her night and shining armor, no one ever did this for her before she always had to fight for herself. What could she tell him, what could she say to this handsome man that she was having wicked thoughts about.  Carla wanted to strip off every layer of clothing and see what lies beneath. She throbbing core intenfied being near him. She tightens her leg together to ease the want, the desire she had for him. She bit the inside of her cheek, to direct the pain somewhere else. She had to say something and the only thing that could come to mind. “Thank you.” She smiled at him, but yet that smiled meant so much more it’s like he knew her deepest secrets, but again he didn’t…

“Such beauty should not be sitting alone?”

Carla looked around, trying to find out who he was talking about, but the words were aiming at her. “I..”  She wanted to say she wasn’t beautiful. She never believe she could attract someone like him. She was a regular girl sitting alone at the bar as her boyfriend was flirting with every other woman with a skirt on.

“You could do better, your boyfriend shouldn’t have left you alone. To have leeches like him around you.” Brandon growl.

Carla looked at him then she turned and watch where Bruce was and then again at this stranger. “Excuse me? I didn’t ask for your help, but for what it’s worth thank you.” She knew he meant well and he didn’t know her, but still how can someone like him notice her, or even care.

“Your man should not have left you. Their are scum everywhere if you were mine, you would be by my side, not alone sitting at the bar.” His voice was low and yet angry but yet so tender.

He’s right, she was fighting a battle within herself for months now, years possible. Bruce didn’t love her, she didn’t either.  If a perfect stranger can see the obvious, then it must be true. Why get angry, she was about to slap him, but when she turned and saw how Bruce was or how his hands on this girl, she had enough.  She looked at him, and shame filled her, what might people think of her. Would they feel sorry for her, pity for her knowing her boyfriend was flirting with everyone but her. .

She watched him as he took his tumbler from the waiter, and shot it back his every move was sexy. His strong jaw, his neck, he didn’t miss a thing, she knew he was watching her, waiting for something.  What could she do or say to him, but she said nothing. Because Carla Roy was weak, and shy, she didn’t know how to fight, or could she. She needed to take control of her life.

She wanted! God, what did she want? At that moment, this handsome man touches her cheeks with his thumb and lean in and kissed her cheek. She melted away to the soft touch of his lips,  the world around her was only an echo of mummers and whispers. He leaned in closer, and his scent made her dizzy. She would feel his lips on her neck, his breath on her ear as he whispered to her. She only thought him, and her body responded to him, and god at that moment she would have done anything for him. His voice was deep but yet soft, a caress, profound and beautiful.

“Sunshine, say the word? Your beauty, your smile. You have every man in this place at your feet, yet you are alone.  You are the most beautiful woman here. So, say the word, and I will take you away from here. That man of yours doesn’t deserve you.”

Oh god Carla thought she literally died and gone to heaven. She couldn’t help but looked over her shoulder again at Bruce. She knew that the man beside her was now gone, his heat, his breath, on her ear, his lips on her skin, made her want more, so much more. So when she turned around and saw empty glass on the counter she thought she imagines it. She raised her head as she saw a figure walking away, but at the last minute, he turned and smile than winked at her. Never in her dreams would she have known someone with that much power over her.  Who was he? He looks familiar, but she didn’t know him. Where he was from or even his name, tonight she had met her hero, and lost him at the same time. Her night and shining armor. Life would never be the same after tonight, she knew what she had to do.
