Hello, my lovely friends.  We all have a forgetful day sometimes don’t we? I’m sorry I haven’t posted anything on Wednesday. So today I decided to continue my snippet of LIAM PIERCE. Hot Billionaire from HALIFAX, NS.  Oh did I tell you he has three other brothers? mmmm. God knows what I can write about all these characters. So let us continue, shall we? This is a first draft.
Chapter Four
Liam

I followed Mia as I pressed my Bluetooth button in my car and said “Siri, call Logan”.   Logan Pierce is my eldest brother and we had a connection being close in age. We both run Pierce Enterprises Atlantic, which is affiliated with Pierce Enterprises in Montreal, Quebec.  Logan, Jacob and Noah, and I all have an equal share of the different divisions we manage from construction to real estate, to import and export and warehousing. It rang a couple of times before I heard his voice come through sound systems.

“What’s up bro, you bail out of the meeting without explanation. What’s going on.” Logan’s concerned voice echoed into my car.

“Listen, about that. I need a few days off. Can you cover for me?”  I kept watching Mia as she took a few curves too fast on the back road of St Margaret’s bay road.  “Slow down?” I said loud enough that Logan would hear.

“Liam! What the hell is going on?”  Logan’s voice came in stronger, more like a commanding officer.

“Listen, I’m following Mia.  The call I got earlier was from Lucas’s Mom.  I can’t give you all the details yet.  Lucas passed away a few days ago.” I told him, as the reality that my best friend was not coming back was finally hitting home.

“Oh man, I’m so sorry Liam. Are you ok? What about Mia? Does she know yet?”   Logan said in a hoarse voice.

Was I ok? That I have no clue, yeah, not seeing Lucas ever again was surreal? “I’m good for now anyway, my concern is more about Mia. That is why I took off as I did.”  I didn’t have to explain to Logan about Mia because he knew. Logan knew that there was something about her that I couldn’t explain.   From the moment I met her, I never looked at anyone else like I did Mia.

I never voiced my feeling for her, because I couldn’t.  But Logan knew, he knew I cared for her, at what level that he didn’t know.

“Liam, is she ok?”

“She believes she’s ok, but I know she isn’t. Damit Logan, she’s hurting and there is nothing I can do for her to ease the pain, and it’s killing me.”  I so wanted to erase all the hurt I saw in her eyes.

“Liam, be there for her. Lucas would have wanted that, you know it, and I know it?”

I appreciated Logan’s concern for her welfare, but I know my brother. I could hear –there was a but in his voice-  in that sentence. “I don’t want to hear it, Logan. I have to be there for her. Put my feelings that I have for her aside and make sure that she comes out ok.”

“I know you don’t want to hear it. I wouldn’t be a good brother if I didn’t care enough to say it. Promise me! Don’t do anything stupid. Be there as a friend, and don’t get all alpha on her. I don’t want you to get hurt if she doesn’t see you the same way you see her. Promise me at least that bro?”

“Damit Logan, her fiance just passed away, why would you think I would make a pass at her.” Even though I know where my brother is going with this.  Feeling her in my arms on the beach felt right.

“Ok. Take all the time you need. I’m here if you need me, Liam.”

“Thanks, I’ll call you soon, ok. And Logan I don’t know how I’m feeling about Lucas, but I know I will work it out. He was my best friend, and it’s going to be hard not seeing him again.”   I watched as Mia made a right onto the Bedford highway, and followed her. Five minutes later she was making another right,  to the glass building right across from the Ceres container line.  The contractor did amazing work on this building. I couldn’t believe that Pierce Enterprises was not part of it.

I parked in the visitor spot.  I honestly didn’t know what I was doing.  What I did know is that I didn’t want her to be alone tonight.  She needed someone, and that person tonight was going to be me.  I walked to the front of the building and watched as Mia came out of the elevator and came and opened the door for me.

“Liam, I know how busy you are.  You don’t have to be here to babysit me, I’m a big girl. I’ll be ok.” She looked at me with a side glance and a weak smile.

“Not happening MIa, Lucas would have wanted me to be here if you needed someone.  And that someone will be me for tonight .”  I told her in a stern voice, that this was not up for debate. Either she was letting me in or I was going to lift her in my arms and walk her to her apartment… She was barely standing as I looked at how exhausted she was.

As we walked down the hall. She opened the door and her apartment, it was an open concept, a bachelor pad.   The place was quiet and peaceful, and not a speck of clothing anywhere. It was neat and everything was in its place. So not like Lucas’s one-bedroom apartment where he had clothes everywhere.

I looked around and noticed everything. The glowing lights of the pier could be seen from the floor-to-ceiling window as you walked into her living area,  The view of Bedford Basin and the Ceres container line sparkle with lights.  Where the container ships pull in to offload.

To the right, as you walked in there was a closet. Then the bathroom to the left, and a wooden antique three-drawer chest leaning against the wall. Followed by the kitchen area to the right with the black glass backsplash and dark quartz countertops.  To the left there was a couch, then a queen size bed near the window.  To the right facing the bed and sofa were the stand and TV. The laminated grey flooring complimented the neutral wall.

Her place was so clean and organized everything in place. Special artwork on the walls and picture frames.  I watched Mia taking a few things out of her closet and walking to the bathroom, before entering she turned and looked at me. I so wanted to take her in my arms and remove all the sadness looking back at me.

“Make yourself at home, I’m just going to take a quick shower to get the sand off me. There is beer in the fridge and over there, I have some whiskey, in the cabinet where the TV is, cause – well Lucas used to like drinking it. If you prefer wine, help yourself to the wine fridge at the end of the counter.”

She was about to close the door of the bathroom before she closed it. “Mia. I’m going to order something to eat, you have a preference.”

“Please don’t Liam, give me five minutes and I will cook something I need to keep busy. I need this.”

She held the handle of the bathroom door and leaned into it, knowing she needed it to stand up.  I didn’t want to argue with her so I agreed, I nodded my head, watched her close the door and minutes later heard the shower.  I walked over to the fridge and helped myself to a beer, and took inventory of the contents she had in the fridge, knowing my culinary skill kicked in.

Pulling out the chicken and vegetables and other things.  I believe it might be handy. By the time she came back out of the bathroom.  I had everything prepared and almost ready. I just needed to figure out if we will have the chicken. Normally I would put it on a bed of rice, but figure a salad on the side would be lighter.

Mia came out with a towel wrapped around her hair, a pair of leggings with a t-shirt on without a bra, which I noticed differently, and tried to catch my breath. She was breathtaking.

“Oh, Liam, that smells wonderful? I didn’t know you cooked.”

A grind as I took a swing of my beer. A talent not many know and normally kept to myself. There comes a time when eating out all the time becomes boring, so I learned early in life that cooking can be fun and relaxing.  She came up close and I could smell the scent of vanilla, and damn if my cock didn’t know it also.

“It’s just a little something I cooked up. I wasn’t sure if you prefer rice or salad, so I made the salad.  I turned and poured her a glass of red wine, knowing that it was her favourite. Thinking back at all the events and noticing she always had a glass of red wine in hand.   And there was already a bottle open, my guess was right.  There was no actual dining area in her small apartment,  so I set everything up on the coffee table with napkins and placement, and utensils.  “Sit, I’ll serve you.”

“Honestly you’re my guest, I should be serving you?”  She told me in a tired voice.

With my hands on her shoulder and turned her around and then told her; “Mia, sit down before you fall over.”

“Are you always this bossy?”

Smiling knowing that I was being a little bossy but I didn’t care, someone needed to make sure she ate. “Yes,”  I told her.  We both sat down on the couch, as I took another swing of my beer, and took my plate, as I watched her do the same.  She looked at her plate and moved things around. “Eat Mia, you need food and rest. So please eat something.”  I might have been a little stern by telling her this but I knew in my heart she needed food.

She looked up at me, put her plate down and took her glass of wine, and sat back watching me.  “Give me a few minutes, I’m just going to finish this wine.  My appetite should open up, but honestly, I’m not that hungry. Even though this smells delicious.”

I finished my plate and placed it on the table and took my beer and sat back and looked at her, knowing that something was bothering her.  Her eyebrows were in a perfect v in the middle and on her forehead.  She was biting down on her lips, so I wanted to take my fingers and pull them apart, but I didn’t.  “What?” I told her.

“How do you know I’m thinking of something?” She took another sip of her wine.

“It’s written all over your face. What is bothering you?”  I said casually.

“I don’t get it, Liam, you never liked me and why are you here, making sure I’m eating, and that I’m ok.  You always made it clear you hated me. So why now, why be here with me, when you could be on one of your hot dates.”

I couldn’t help her shaking hands. “I’m here because it’s the right thing to do?”  I finished off my beer and took her plate and handed it to her. “Please, Mia, eat something.”  She looked at me and sighed, she wasn’t backing down and I liked that. My reason for staying was my selfish reason. She might not trust me right now or my intention for being with her, as I steer at her.

This story is coming together slowly and I hope you all will enjoy the finished product once it’s done. What do you think will happen here you think?
Have a fabulous Thursday

Hugs and be safe

Brenda 🙂
