Did someone say Friday? Woo hoo

Hello, my lovelies.

Well, we made it to Friday. I don’t know about all of you, but the word Friday sounds so good.

Not sure if all of you know, but I work and Transportation, truckload to be exact, and it can get crazy and out of control sometimes. Things are different from when I started over 35 years ago—we were different, I think. I remember long ago, I was in my twenties, and it all started as a part-time job. Back then, it was about calling people and conversing with someone on the phone. Crazy huh?

We made those connections, and we had crushes on some customers and fell in love with voices. Thinking back on this brings a smile to my face. I was single, outgoing, and bold; I loved talking on the phone find excuses always to call a specific customer because of that crush I had. I worked with a group of men that ruled the industry. Not many women back then in transport, but there were a few. I remember getting away with a lot, and customers loved me. My laughter was infectious. God, I miss those days. I worked with Bill, Dave, Chris, and Bruce; I was the only girl in that department. I loved those guys. The Sales team back then was Steve, Michel, Richard, Mark, Daniel and Roger.

See where I’m getting at? A group of men showed me the world of transport. Those were the good old days, for sure.

We remembered phone numbers. Yes, phone numbers. I used to memorize them. As we evolved in the industry, things changed. We are faster-paced nowadays and no longer take the time to call. It’s all about texting or emailing. Conversation over the phone is becoming a thing of the past. We now do video chat. I wouldn’t say I like it, but I still do it.

Having a crush back then was easy. You talk and try to figure out what that other person would look like; sometimes, the voices match the person, and other times not.

We’ve become hermits in our little way. When the pandemic hit, we all secluded ourselves in our homes, no longer seeing anyone, and we learned to adapt. Some people work amazingly well at home; some others don’t. I must say I love working from home. Fridays are the only day to must report to the office and I’m ok with that.

Maybe, I should write my journey. Nah! I think everyone would fall asleep in the first chapter.., haha.

These are my thoughts for today, and I hope you all have a blessed day and be well, and get out there and have fun. You are never too old to have fun. Laugh a lot. It soothes the soul.

HAPPY FRIDAY ALL

Hugs

Brenda
